Modulo is a golf GPS application for iOS and Android. It provides live distances to the front, middle, and back of the green, together with basic hole information, to help golfers before their next shot.
This Privacy Notice supplements the Lank Chilled (Pty) Ltd Master Privacy Policy, which continues to apply. Where this Notice and the Master Privacy Policy differ, this Notice takes precedence in respect of Modulo.
Modulo relies on your device's GPS location to function. Location is processed in the following ways:
Precise location (in use): while you are using the app, your precise location is used to calculate distances to the green and to sort nearby courses by proximity.
Passive location: with your permission, Modulo may collect anonymous GPS location points while you play, including at times when the app is running in the background, in order to verify, correct, and improve golf course data.
You can enable or disable location permissions at any time in your device settings. Disabling precise location will prevent the app from calculating distances.
Passive location points are collected in a de-identified form. They are associated with course and hole geometry, not with your identity, and are not used to build a profile of you or to track your movements away from the golf course.
Modulo does not use location data for advertising, marketing, or cross-app tracking.
Course information, including green positions and hole details, is drawn from third-party data sources and from corrections contributed by users.
Where you report or contribute a correction to course data, that information is stored and used to improve the accuracy of course information for all users.
Modulo does not require an account to display distances. Depending on the features you use, we may process limited device and technical information necessary to operate the app, and your purchase status (see section 6).
Modulo offers a one-off, lifetime unlock purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payments are processed by Apple or Google, not by Lank Chilled, and we do not receive or store your full payment card details.
We use a purchase-management provider (RevenueCat) to verify your purchase status. Their processing is governed by their own privacy terms.
We use the following operators to run Modulo: Supabase (database and hosting) and RevenueCat (purchase verification). These operators process information on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
Modulo does not display advertising, does not sell personal information, and does not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Location points and course data are retained for as long as necessary to maintain and improve course accuracy. Other information is retained in accordance with the Master Privacy Policy.
Course and location data may be processed or stored outside South Africa by our operators. Appropriate safeguards are applied in accordance with section 72 of POPIA.
Modulo is a general-audience application and is not directed at children.
